// distance to breach

How close am I to breaching my FTMO account?

If you’re asking the question mid-session, you already know the feeling. Here’s how to get the exact number, in dollars and in trades, instead of guessing.

The two numbers that matter

You can only breach FTMO two ways: the daily loss limit (5% 2-Step / 3% 1-Step of your initial balance, reset each day) or the maximum loss (10%, static on the 2-Step, trailing on the 1-Step). Your real distance to breach is whichever of those two floors is closer right now.

The calculator takes your account size, current equity, and today’s starting balance, and returns both numbers in dollars, plus exactly how many losing trades stand between you and a BLOCK at your risk per trade.

Why the answer changes how the next trade feels

“I’m down a bit” is a feeling. “I am two trades from losing this account” is a fact. The traders who keep funded accounts are the ones who trade against the number, not the feeling.

FAQ

How do I know how close I am to breaching FTMO?

Compare your current equity to your two FTMO floors: the daily loss limit (5% 2-Step / 3% 1-Step of initial balance, from the day’s starting equity) and the maximum loss (10%, static or trailing). The closer of the two is your real distance to breach. The free calculator computes both.

Does FTMO warn you before you breach?

No. There is no warning before a breach: the account fails the moment a limit is crossed. The only way to see it coming is to track your distance to both limits yourself.

Is the breach calculator free?

Yes. It’s free, requires no signup, and stores nothing.
